Winter Park Memorial Wellness Center is a two story, 85,000 SF facility dedicated for wellness center functions for Florida Hospital’s Winter Park Memorial Hospital and the community of Winter Park Florida. Major program elements include physical therapy, aging in place, geriatric therapy, rehabilitative spaces and a child development center. Other major program spaces include indoor therapy and lap pools, health café, genius bar, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a multi-purpose room (divisible into four salons) and a two level commons area which includes a health concierge, health club member spaces and a second floor running track.
RGD’s senior staff provided mechanical and electrical engineering, and technology systems engineering. RGD’s senior staff were the Prime LEED Administrative Consultant, managing the sustainability efforts of the architectural, and engineering disciplines for the Project.
Major engineering challenges include central chilled water systems, air to air energy recovery systems, demand ventilation systems and multiple variable volume systems. The aquatic space HVAC system utilizes the pool water as heat sinks, transferring space heat to heat the pool water. Other technical aspects include daylighting systems, programmable lighting systems and extensive programmable lighting systems. Technology systems (low voltage system) include voice/data, CCTV, access control and badging systems. The design of the low voltage system include Integration of these systems with the existing, adjacent Winter Park Memorial Hospital.
The Project has received USGBC LEED silver rating.
