Water management is critical in building a self-sustaining property. RGD Consulting Engineers has had the unique privilege to work with partners on finding creative water management solutions.

What does a resort do when all of its water has been shut off? That’s the question that the Marriott Vacation Club posed to RGD Consulting Engineers. In St. Thomas, all of the fresh water is provided by a municipal RO Plant for the entire island. The water is produced and delivered by underground pipes to the various locations. Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove is located at the end of the run. Some time ago, the resort lost its water supply because the plant was shut down. During that period, the resort was forced to truck in water. This was extremely time consuming and expensive.

RGD conducted a study for the resort to evaluate the upfront costs vs the long term savings on the resort having its own Reverse Osmosis Plant. It was determined the long term savings were significant and RGD moved forward with the development of specifications which were then provided to three vendors to bid. TSG Technologies was awarded the project.

RGD worked with TSG Technologies throughout the design through construction. The plant is currently operating and ensures the resort always has clean water.
